In most cases, the watercolor you buy is unframed. And there's an important reason for that. The framing, just like the choice for a certain work of art, is a matter of personal taste or sometimes it depends in which room the watercolor will be exposed. The colors in that space are also important to make the work of art and the framing stand out.
Because a watercolor is painted on paper, paper can easily absorb dust, dirt, grease or nicotine/tar, it is wise to put the watercolor behind glass to protect the artwork. A passe-partout between the glass window and the watercolor is common. Why? Condensation can always develop behind glass. If the condensation touches the watercolor or the paper in general, the artwork can develop stains and/or mold. So framing is a must!
No! Daily sunlight fades the color pigments. This is the case for all objects that are placed or exposed directly in sunlight. Can a watercolor withstand light? Yes, nowadays with the better paint qualities it can. The watercolor will retain its quality in normal light.
A Certificate of Authenticity states the title of the work of art, the year in which the work of art was made, dates the issue of the Certificate of Authenticity and is signed by the artist himself as proof that the work of art is genuine and comes from his/her hand. For older watercolors from earlier centuries and/or where the artist is no longer alive, there is usually no Certificate of Authenticity from the artist available. In those cases, Aquarel Art guarantees authenticity.
